Our History

From a humble beginning in 1992, with an endowment from the Munising Rotary Club, the Alger Regional Community Foundation has become a source of pride and an important resource for our communities. By working together, we’re creating opportunities that help strengthen Alger County now and for many years to come.

The Foundation manages $4.1 million in assets spread across over 60 different funds. The earnings from investing these assets wisely provide annual funding dedicated to supporting ‘quality of life’ enhancement programs in Alger County. From scholarships and educational awards to “field of interest” funds, the Foundation allows donors to support those activities and institutions they hold dear through the joy of giving while providing annual resources that support the program and activities that are vital to the strength and vitality of Alger County communities.

The ARCF is governed by a volunteer board of directors comprised of community leaders from all corners of Alger County.

Mission Statement:
The Alger Regional Community Foundation exists for the purpose of providing financial assistance to Alger County for quality of life enhancement programs.

The Alger Regional Community Foundation accomplishes this through the development and growth of permanent endowment funds tailored to the wishes of our donors, to ensure that both present and future opportunities are consistent with our donors’ visions.
